Data protection and GDPR
What does GDPR mean for Isle of Man residents?
According to the official Isle of Man government website, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is an EU law that defines individuals’ data rights and sets obligations for those who collect or process personal data, including compliance measures and penalties for breaches. The Isle of Man has adopted the GDPR through its Data Protection Act 2018, ensuring continued data flows and business with the EU.
Does Junara comply with GDPR requirements for Isle of Man residents?
Yes.
Where is my data kept?
We distinguish between two main types of data:
1. Customer content data – this includes the data you directly control, such as your emails, calendar entries, contacts, and account settings. This data is stored securely in AWS data centres located in Ireland (EU).
2. Customer account and subscription data – this includes information we collect to manage your account and subscription, such as billing details, payment processing information, and customer support interactions. These data points are managed securely either by us or through trusted third-party service providers, some of which operate outside the EEA. Whenever data is transferred outside the EEA, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place – such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) – to maintain a GDPR-compliant level of protection.
How long is my data kept for?
We will retain your personal data while it is required for our business functions, or for us to comply with applicable laws, or if we need it for other lawful purposes. We will retain your personal data as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes and/or enforce our agreements or rights under applicable laws.
When we no longer need to retain your personal data for the purposes outlined above or as required by applicable law, our process is to destroy or deidentify the information.
What type of emails will Junara send me?
We send the following types of emails to all of our customers:
- Service notifications;
- Legal notifications;
- Payment-related notifications;
- Other emails as noted in our Privacy Notice.
Will Junara scan my emails to sell my data?
No, we will not scan your emails with a view to selling your data, and we do not sell your data. We maintain the highest standards of data protection and security, ensuring that every email remains private and confidential.
Where can I send a GDPR enquiry?
If you have signed up with Junara, you can email your GDPR enquiry to our Data Protection Officer (DPO) at [email protected]
How long will it take for you to respond to a GDPR enquiry?
We aim to respond to all legitimate requests within one month. If your request is particularly complex or you have made multiple requests, we may take longer. In such cases, we will notify you and keep you informed of progress.
